Lean Manufacturing

Compulink Lean Philosophy

Compulink’s lean journey began in August of 2009 when we elected to implement lean initiatives in accordance with the Toyota Production System (TPS). Our emphasis of “building a community of lean houses-one value stream at a time” provided the framework and structure for our journey. Compulink is dedicated to creating a lean organization through the implementation of proven lean methods and practices.  Our lean steering committee provides guidance and establishes goals for a company-wide lean transformation through training, implementation, and philosophy.

Lean System Implementation

A culture of continuous improvement has been established to further lean system implementation.

The organization and factory have been aligned through cross functional Value Stream Teams (VST) that are empowered to drive lean transformation in all production and business processes.

Value Stream Teams Enhance Real-Time Decision Making

Techniques such as process stabilization, line balancing Kan Ban, point of use, single piece flow, continuous improvement and built in quality were utilized to drive toward world class performance. While implementing new processes, tool sets and methodologies, Compulink was able to also significantly improve the culture of the organization. The formulation of Value Stream Teams permitted co-location of program resources, real-time decision making, unparalleled support and exceptional customer service. Combined with our commitment to comprehensive program management oversight on all programs, the approach provided a powerful force to propel our business.

The resultant effect of the implementation of these lean initiatives was a significant improvement in internal metrics, improvement in our customer score cards, a reduction in costs and a corresponding reduction to customer prices. Although we have demonstrated that our implementation has been effective we are committed to continuous improvement and a lasting pursuit of this journey.
